The Requirements: 1 essay of 50-500 words
Supplemental Essay Type(s): Why, Community
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s…a Community essay and a Why essay in one? Either way, it’s time to do your research! Lewis & Clark’s single prompt covers two separate bases, and you’ve got to be ready to answer all aspects of it, so pull up the school’s website and get comfy. Why is Lewis & Clark the perfect fit for you? Maybe you can’t wait to get down and dirty with some hands-on fieldwork as an Environmental Science major. Or perhaps you can’t wait to connect with your fellow Harry Potter fans and lead your quidditch team to an incredible victory! This essay is an opportunity for you to explain what drew you to Lewis & Clark and what exactly you plan to do if and when you arrive on campus. How do you currently impact your school community? And how might you bridge the gap between your current community involvement and your future involvement at L&C? Maybe you want to attend Lewis & Clark because both of your parents are alumni and you want to experience all the school has to offer for yourself. Perhaps you want to make your mark on campus by bringing the best whoopie pies the campus has ever seen to bake sales for causes you care about. One last word of advice: Don’t forget to be mindful of the word count! Answering two types of prompts in one essay can be more challenging than it may seem – but we know you can do it!
