This program is for women interested in pursuing a degree in business. Please tell us what area of business you are currently most interested in pursuing, and why. (Minimum 300 words)

This is a classic “why” essay prompt in the admissions world. Since you’re applying to this program, we’re willing to bet you have a lot to say in this department. Our advice? Do your research to make sure your response is as detailed and specific as possible. If you’re not exactly sure which area of business you’re most interested in pursuing, we recommend focusing on one or two. (No one is going to hold you to it! So don’t stress about committing here.) If your answer is too vague, you might miss the opportunity to differentiate yourself from other applicants. Finally, the why. Take some time to reflect on your reasoning and spell it out for admissions. Try to be as authentic as possible; these are real people reading your application, and they’re hoping to connect with you through the page.

Name a national or international business or known business person you admire and why you find them admirable. (Minimum 300 words)

Take this opportunity to reveal more about what/who you admire and why. Select a business or leader and summarize their impact on you as concisely as possible. Remember that the person or business you choose is going to say a lot about what you value and respect in others and in business. If you outline the business or known business person’s methodology, accomplishments, and influence on you in particular, you’ll give admissions insight into what kind of business you hope to lead in the future.

If you were not going to pursue a degree in business, what would you do instead? (Minimum 200 words)

We love a fun prompt! Don’t overthink your response to this question. Instead, use it as a chance to share a facet of your life they may not know about. If you weren’t pursuing business, would you be a painter or a marine biologist? Maybe you’d pursue a career in healthcare or the performing arts. A strong response to this question will show admissions that you’re a multifaceted person with many interests and talents. And there’s no saying that you can’t merge your degree in business with your other passions since almost every field does business in one way or another. So long as you’re answering genuinely, you’re on the right track.
