Roger Williams University 2024-25 Application Essay Explanations

The Requirements: 1 essay of 500 words

Supplemental Essay Type(s): Community, Diversity

Roger Williams University is an open, accepting and affirming community of citizen scholars. We stand firmly committed to creating a campus that is diverse and inclusive as well as welcoming to and accepting of all people regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, ability, socio-economic class, age or spirituality.
We reflect this in our many programs, initiatives, organizations, and clubs throughout the university, ranging from our undergraduate programs to the School of Law.

In what ways do you believe your distinctive experiences and background would positively impact and enrich our university community? (please feel free to respond in your own authentic voice, and use any format – including bullet points – to share a brief statement) (500 words max)

Roger Williams University wants to continue to build an open, accepting, and affirming community of citizen scholars, so it’s time to think about what diversity and inclusion mean to you and how you will positively impact and enrich that community as a result of your own experiences and background. Maybe you have lived with a physical disability for as long as you can remember and want to write about how you foster inclusivity by encouraging curiosity while asserting your boundaries. Perhaps you’ve lived on three continents and look forward to teaching your peers Spanish slang and customs from your home country. What has influenced your identity and how will your life experiences bring something of value to the community at Roger Williams?
