Follow our tips to draft an essay worthy of acceptance!
Regular Decision Deadline: Apr 1
You Have:
The Requirements: 1 essay of 250 words
Supplemental Essay Type(s): Why, Community
This is a classic Why essay with a Community twist. Many schools ask students why they want to attend, but admissions wants to know why you’re interested in joining their specific community. Be sure to answer both parts of the question, and we’d advise you to spend more time explaining why the Monmouth College community is the perfect place for you to spend the next four years. You only have 250 words (at most!), so brevity is key. Maybe it’s important to you to attend a liberal arts college close to home, one with a small student body and long history. Perhaps you’re excited to major in Classical Languages, but even more elated to break out your bagpipe to play with the Monmouth College Pipe Band! Or maybe you visited campus last year and felt such an instant sense of community and belonging you couldn’t imagine studying Environmental Studies and Sustainability anywhere else! Whatever your reasoning may be, make sure your response is personal to you and only you.
