This statement should be 250 words at most; however, it is neither necessary nor expected that you reach this maximum length. We strongly encourage you to focus on content and efficiency rather than word count. While submitting this prompt is optional, we recommend that all applicants do so.

This question is a blend of the Why Essay and the Community Essay. Admissions wants to know not only why you’re interested in joining the Tulane community, but also what you will, in turn, contribute to the community should you be admitted. Now’s the time to do some research and paint a picture of what your life would be like as a Tulane student. In other words, show off your fit! Maybe you’ve been a researcher since you were a little kid, devouring books and documentaries about your favorite subjects. What excites you about attending a university that the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching ranked in the top 2% nationwide for research activity?
