Ivy League and Top-Tier School Acceptance Rates for the Class of 2025

Ivy Divider

First things first, congratulations to all those who received good news over the past few weeks — we’re so excited for you!!

If you received bad news recently, please know that you’re not alone. Ivy league and top-tier school admissions have been increasingly competitive in recent years — and this year was no different. Trust us, if you were waitlisted or rejected from a school, you are in good company. Many schools reported record low acceptance rates for the 2020-21 application season.

If you want to throw yourself a mini pity party, you totally should (we’ll bring brownies and chocolate frosting!). But you should also keep in mind that many students are going through the exact same thing you are. (At this very moment!)

The college you go to doesn’t make or break your future; you decide the trajectory of your own academic and career path. Whether you go to your reach school or target school, you have the power to decide how you will use your time in higher education. Will you join clubs or try on a few intern hats? Are you interested in campus politics or volunteer work? Does research or work-study interest you? You can still have the college experience you’ve always dreamed of, you just might be donning different colors than you originally planned.

Here are the new acceptance rates for top schools across the nation:

  • Barnard: 10%
  • Boston University: 18.3%
  • Colby College: 8%
  • Cornell: 10.7%
  • Dickinson: 40%
  • Emory University: 20%
  • Georgia Tech: 18%
  • Johns Hopkins: 5%
  • Macalester College: 31%
  • Middlebury: 15.7%
  • MIT: 4%
  • New York University (NYU): 12.8%
  • Northwestern: 9%
  • Notre Dame: 14%
  • Pomona: 7.2%
  • Rice: 9%

  • Vanderbilt University: 6.7%
  • Villanova: 25%
  • Washington University in St. Louis: 13%

If you have found yourself on the waitlist, don’t worry, you can write a letter to admissions reiterating your interest and informing them of any new achievements. And, as always, we can help you iron out the kinks in your letter.

**Stanford is no longer on our list, as this prestigious institution is no longer releasing admissions statistics.
